Alien Speculative Typography
This project consists of 2 books and 2 type specimens, and it is an exploration into alien written language. It's a study into Typetoms (the individual strokes you take to complete a letter). The first portion is a publication analyzing different languages in pop culture. The second portion of the project is a scratch-made alien manuscript and 2 type specimens, which is the vessel for my own alien language, using the skills I picked up from the first book.

Part 1
The first book in the project is called "Alien Speculative Typography," and it is comprised of an essay by Ria Cheyne, a fiction writer, and an essay by Amanda Ong, a creative director. There is also an interview with Matteo Milani, the creator of the Navi language in James Cameron's Avatar movie series. Strewn between the pages are images of written language in a selection of some of the best Alien languages in Pop culture. The Book is 56 Pages and is 8 by 8 inches in size. I used this book to create my own alien-written language in the second part below.

Part 2
The second portion of this project consists of a scratch-made Alien Manuscript, a codex, and a deciphering manual. The Manuscript consists of 30 handmade pages with Alien type and watercolor illustrations exploring the Aliens' home world. The codex contains more than 100 words and is used to decipher the manuscript, and the Manual teaches you how to read the sentences. I learned a lot from part 1, and it felt only natural to express my passion for world-building in the medium of written language.

Alien Speculative Typography
This project consists of two books the first above is a collection of interviews from linguistics experts and Language Makers. The book also has spreads of famous alien civilizations from pop culture and movies. I created this book to conglomerate Alien Typography specifically, focusing less on how a language sounds but more about how it is written.
